I am somebody. Self-acceptance builds confidence. Self-acceptance is a practice that involves recognizing and accepting all aspects of yourself, both the good and the bad. It is an essential part of personal growth and development, as it allows us to be more mindful of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By learning to accept ourselves unconditionally, we can become more authentic in our relationships with others and increase our overall happiness. In this article, we will discuss the practice of self-acceptance and how to successfully achieve it.

The Practice of Self-acceptance

First, the practice of self-acceptance builds confidence. Second, a person who esteems himself has to embrace that they are somebody. The person staring back at you from the mirror matters because you were strategically placed in the universe on purpose. You are not an accident. Self-esteem is liking yourself. Even as you mature, age, and evolve in your philosophy about life, at the core is liking yourself. There is nothing wrong with liking you.

“The number one thing that should be on your blueprint is a deep belief in your own dignity, your own worth and your own somebodiness. Don’t allow anybody to make you feel that you are nobody. Always feel that you count, always feel that you have worth and always feel that your life has ultimate significance.”

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On this journey to build your self-esteem, practice self-acceptance. Self-acceptance is believing that you are the best YOU at all times. You are the best when you make good decisions and when you make bad decisions. You are the result of parental influence, peer influence, environment, and life experiences.

My Mom would often say, “Ain’t nobody perfect. The only perfect person who walked this earth was Jesus and He’s in heaven”. Self-acceptance is letting go of the criticism within you. Self-acceptance can be difficult to achieve, but with practice, it can become easier over time. Through self-reflection and self-compassion, we can learn to accept ourselves for who we are without judgment or criticism.

Set An Intention to Accept Who You Are

Self-discovery is an essential part of any personal growth journey. Taking time to get to know yourself can help you find your purpose in life, increase your self-awareness, and make better decisions. It can also help you understand how your past experiences have shaped who you are today and how they may be influencing your future.

Decide that you will accept the person you are now and as you evolve. Accepting yourself as you are is a powerful step toward growth and self-improvement. When you decide to be kinder to yourself and accept who you are, it creates an inner environment of peace and contentment that allows for further transformation. By accepting the person you are now, you also open the door to embracing your future self. This mindset of self-love and acceptance is empowering, allowing for positive change in all aspects of life.

Embrace Your Weaknesses and Celebrate Your Strengths

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, but it’s important to remember that your weaknesses can be just as valuable as your strengths. Embracing your weaknesses can help you better understand yourself and the world around you. It can also help you find creative solutions to any challenge or obstacle that comes your way. At the same time, celebrating your strengths is important too – it helps build confidence, boosts morale, and gives you a sense of accomplishment. To do this, you have to know what strengths you have. Make a list and post them on your bathroom or closet door where you can read them often.

Reflecting on your weaknesses and strengths will help you become a more well-rounded person in the long run!

Surround Yourself With Positive People Who Encourage You

Qualify your support group and inner circle. Find individuals who will lift your spirits and distance yourself from people that are negative and constantly criticize you. Feedback is good, and advice is nice, but, negativity is toxic.

Surround yourself with positive people who encourage you. It is these people who will help you build the confidence and resilience to tackle life’s challenges. They will be there to celebrate your successes and pick you up when things don’t go as planned.

Positive people are not only inspiring, but they also provide a valuable source of motivation when you need it most. They can help keep you focused on your goals and remind you that anything is possible if you put in the effort. Positive people also bring out the best in us, helping us to reach our full potential.

Identify Negative Self-talk and Replace it With Positive Affirmations

We can be our own worst critics. Negative self-talk can be a major obstacle to achieving your goals and living a fulfilled life. Fortunately, there are ways to identify and replace this negative self-talk with positive affirmations to build your confidence and self-esteem.

Positive affirmations can help you to focus on the positive aspects of yourself and the situations in which you find yourself. By regularly repeating these positive statements, you can start to reprogram your mind and create an environment of positivity which will help you to stay motivated and achieve success. Speak to that inner voice with positive affirmations of who you are and remember your strengths!

Forgive Yourself

Move on from past mistakes, failures, and unfulfilled promises. Doing so can help us move forward, grow, and take on new challenges with a positive attitude. In this healing process, release negative thoughts and feelings. Form new habits that will improve your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

For example, meditation for ten minutes each morning may help you feel more at peace with yourself during the day. Start a journal to stay mindful of your life.

Look at your past mistakes, failures, and unfulfilled promises as lessons learned, roads to get off of, or doors to shut. There is no doorway that we can go through to change the past. Therefore, we must move forward. Each day we wake up in this world is a new opportunity to begin again.

“Don’t let the mistakes of the past control and direct your future.”

Zig Zigler

Conclusion

The affirmation, I AM SOMEBODY, is a powerful reminder that each and every one of us has something special to offer the world. We all have unique talents, skills, and perspectives that can be used to make the world a better place. By embracing our individuality and recognizing our potential, we can use our gifts to create meaningful change in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

Strangely, oppression from ourselves and others have a way of activating self-esteem and self-worth. Always remember that self-acceptance builds confidence. It was at my lowest moment in life that I found my value. I lifted my head, straighten my back, and changed my life. I became somebody with purpose, drive, and ambition.

Say it with me, I AM SOMEBODY.
